Payables & Receivables


Responsibilities of the Payables clerks include the payment of all pre-approved Board invoices as well as invoices for the Clerk of Court and the Supervisor of Elections. All vendors are requested to submit a W-9 prior to payment of the first invoice. After the end of the calendar year, vendors subject to reporting miscellaneous income are issued a 1099 for payments of $600 or more in a year.


The Receivables section is responsible for the collection, receipting and reconciliation of all external and internal monies due to the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners and the Clerk of Courts. To ensure that monies are recorded in the appropriate accounts, the department works closely with the Clerk’s Accounting Department and the Board of County Commissioners Budget Office.
